Financial means are only attributed to INRA units (including joint research units and contract-based research units). The participation of external teams is nevertheless encouraged provided that they fund their own part.

As part of metaprogrammes, three categories of funding are eligible :

  • operating costs and small equipment,
  • doctoral and post-doctoral grants,
  • tenured positions of researchers and engineers.

Distributing these human and financial means can be done either via calls for expression of interest which make it possible to solicit project ideas over all or part of the research themes or via more targeted national or international actions, such as workshops, supporting the development of a network, providing project engineering, or developing a specific database.

A metaprogramme is an internal co-construction process involving the steering committee and the scientific teams in line with the objectives defined.  External (European, national) funding  is also encouraged to reinforce the allocated means.
